چکیده

Examples of Fell algebras with compact spectrum and trivial Dixmier-Douady invariant are constructed to illustrate differences the case continuous-trace C ∗ C^* -algebras. At level spectrum, this translates only assuming is locally Hausdorff (rather than Hausdorff). The existence (full) projections fundamental question considered. class studied here arises naturally in study Wieler solenoids applications dynamical systems will be discussed a separate paper.

Fell Bundles over Groupoids

We study the C*-algebras associated to Fell bundles over groupoids and give a notion of equivalence for Fell bundles which guarantees that the associated C*-algebras are strong Morita equivalent. As a corollary we show that any saturated Fell bundle is equivalent to a semi-direct product arising from the action of the groupoid on a C*-bundle. A C*-algebraic bundle (see [F2, §11]) over a locally...

Fundamental pro-groupoids and covering projections

We introduce a new notion of covering projection E → X of a topological spaceX which reduces to the usual notion ifX is locally connected. We use locally constant presheaves and covering reduced sieves to find a pro-groupoid π crs(X) and an induced category pro(π crs(X), Sets) such that for any topological space X the category of covering projections and transformations of X is equivalent to th...

C*-algebras on r-discrete Abelian Groupoids

We study certain function algebras and their operator algebra completions on r-discrete abelian groupoids, the corresponding conditional expectations, maximal abelian subalgebras (masa) and eigen-functionals. We give a semidirect product decomposition for an abelian groupoid. This is done through a matched pair and leads to a C*-diagonal (for a special case). We use this decomposition to study ...

Weak Hopf Algebras and Quantum Groupoids

We give a detailed comparison between the notion of a weak Hopf algebra (also called a quantum groupoid by Nikshych and Văınerman), and that of a ×R-bialgebra due to Takeuchi (and also called a bialgebroid or quantum (semi)groupoid by Lu and Xu). A weak bialgebra is the same thing as a ×R-bialgebra in which R is Frobenius-separable. We extend the comparison to cover module and comodule theory, ...

Graphs, groupoids and Cuntz-Krieger algebras

We associate to each locally finite directed graph G two locally compact groupoids G and G(?). The unit space of G is the space of one–sided infinite paths in G, and G(?) is the reduction of G to the space of paths emanating from a distinguished vertex ?. We show that under certain conditions their C∗–algebras are Morita equivalent; the groupoid C∗–algebra C∗(G) is the Cuntz–Krieger algebra of ...
